When You just Can’t Decide

When You just Can’t Decide

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
Philippians 4:4-5

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7

Why is decision making so complicated?

  1. We have too many choices.
  2. We’re afraid of making a costly mistake.

Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas…
Acts 15:22

“…it seemed good to us, having become of one mind, to select men to send to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul…”
Acts 15:25

For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials… “
Acts 15:28

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
Proverbs 14:12

If you are around the wrong people, listening to the wrong voices, and living for the wrong values, what seems right will often be wrong!

Let’s read those verses again with a different focus:

Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men…
Acts 15:22

“…it seemed good to us, having become of one mind, to select men
Acts 15:25

“For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us…
Acts 15:28

NOT VOTING… AGREEING in dialogue

With a posture of prayer and surrender and a perspective that says the Lord is near, and so are my brothers and sisters in Christ, we will seek God and do what seems right!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
