When Anxiety Attacks

When Anxiety Attacks

Philippians 4:4-7

PROBLEM

This will be from a spiritual perspective. Anxiety is a complex issue.

90% of all doctor visits are triggered by stress-related illness, and 91% of high school and college kids report consistent and significant levels of anxiety

No one has ever created a trouble-free life. Job 5:7, people are born for trouble as readily as sparks fly up from a fire.

We don't expect the inevitable attacks on our peace.

BIBLE

Philippians 4:4-7  Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Thank God before you make the request - whatever you do in response to this request is good.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

APPLICATION

Anxiety isn't a sin, it's a symptom, a signal alerting you it's time to pray.

Principle: I'm holding it, but I'm not controlling it. That's what I know about my life, time, money, my children, my responsibilities. What I can see is controlled by that hand I can't see.

The real issue is not a change of circumstances, the real issue is the change of you.

You're anxious because you have you at the center, and you can't sustain it because it's not your throne. "Ever listen to your language…”

VISION

Orange juice- "It's nothing but a thing. If they can fix it, they fix it. If they can't, they can't. It's nothing but a thing". I thought, "I want that."

We saw your smoke signal, and we came to rescue you. So sometimes what we think is a worst disaster is a smoke signal leading to our deliverance. The worst-case scenario can actually be exactly what the Lord has ordered for your life.
