BAD DECISIONS – Destiny

BAD DECISIONS – Destiny

THIS SHALL NEVER HAPPEN

Matthew 16:22-23

PROBLEM

  • “Control is a screaming testament of your distrust in God”.
  • When we control, we’re actually saying, “God can’t/won’t handle this my way, so I will”.

GOD

Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”
Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” (Matthew 16:22-23)

APPLICATION

  • Why did Adam and Eve desire to cross over from their circle of control into a realm that was off-limits and ultimately out of their control?
  • Donuts and donut holes. The fine line that separates the small, inner circle from the outer and much larger circle, is where we ‘end’ and where situations and others ‘begin.’ When we trespass over this line we put ourselves in a position in which we tend to want to control and manipulate outcomes.
  • “Can you change your spouse?” You can love your spouse, you can pray for your spouse, you can encourage your spouse.
  • God’s purpose for His people does not include controlling others or circumstances. He’s got something better in mind… That you would trust Him and His plans for your life.

VISION

  • Story and image of wheelchair
  • prepare my heart for Your plans.
  • “Everything is,” and as you exhale, “as it should be.”
